Etienne Esajas scored the only goal as Scunthorpe overcame Plymouth Argyle for a hard-earned win at Glanford Park.
The highlight of a quiet first half came courtesy of a header from Iron's Niall Canavan which was tipped over by Luke McCormick.
Plymouth started the second half stronger, but Reuben Reid had a goal disallowed for offside.
Scunthorpe finally broke the deadlock when Esajas pounced from close range after Sam Winnall's shot was blocked.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Scunthorpe United manager Brian Laws told BBC Radio Humberside:
"I though in the last 10 minutes we had to slow the game down because the tempo of the game was pretty fast - it was going end to end.
"When we got the goal, it was important that the periods that we needed to get a breather we kept the ball, and I thought we kept it really well, kept it simple and kept possession.
"I was thrilled for the players, and that's two wins on the bounce now. I hope they can march on."
