"We're just stressing how important it is getting the first goal, especially away from home when you go to tough grounds," said Archibald.

"To be fair to Motherwell, they were the better team by far in the first half."

Archibald felt Thistle had let 'Well "dominate" in the opening period but was pleased with how the Jags approached the second half.

"We'll keep on trying to do what we're doing," he added.
