Stranraer 1-1 Ayr Utd

Scottish League One

Ayr United lost ground on Scottish League One leaders Rangers despite coming from behind to secure a draw away to Stranraer.

Sean Winter picking out Jamie Longworth to slot the Blues into an early lead as they sought their first points.

Michael Donald went close for Ayr with a curling effort before Michael McGowan levelled for Mark Roberts' men.

The Northern Ireland under-21 international hammered the ball beyond David Mitchell in the Stranraer goal.

Ayr went close in the second half when Adam Hunter's drive from distance finished up just the wrong side of the post.

But their draw means they are two points behind Rangers, who thrashed Airdrieonians 6-0 the previous evening.
