Scott Parker: Fulham sign Tottenham midfielder

Fulham have completed the signing of Scott Parker from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.

The 32-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal at Craven Cottage and becomes Fulham's eighth summer signing.

Parker was no longer guaranteed first-team football at White Hart Lane following a number of new arrivals.

"He's a midfielder who works tirelessly for his team and is a fantastic player both on and off the ball," said Fulham manager Martin Jol.

Championship side Queens Park Rangers had agreed a fee with Spurs for Parker's services, but there was doubt as to whether he would leave the Premier League as he attempts to force his way back into Roy Hodgson's England squad ahead of next year's World Cup.

"I'm delighted to be joining Fulham and I'm looking forward to meeting my new team-mates at training on Tuesday morning," said Parker, who has won 18 caps for England since making his debut in 2003.

"Fulham are an established Premier League club and I look forward to trying to help the team progress even further over the next three years."

Despite captaining England last year and playing in all of their Euro 2012 group matches, the summer signings of Etienne Capoue and Paulinho put Parker's chances of regular first-team football at Tottenham in doubt.

He is the latest change at Fulham during a summer in which eight players have left the club and Shahid Khan completed a takeover from former owner Mohamed Al-Fayed.

The move will see the former Newcastle player represent a fifth London club, after previous spells at Charlton Athletic, Chelsea and West Ham.

"It is wonderful to see a player of his stature playing for Fulham Football Club as he has shown his qualities in the Premier League and for the England team for many years," added Jol.

Fulham have signed five other players to permanent deals this summer, with Adel Taarabt and Darren Bent also joining on loan.
