Hyde 0-1 Grimsby
Grimsby eventually made their pressure tell as Alex Rodman's second-half goal was enough to beat Hyde.
The substitute poked home from six yards after Joe Colbeck had whipped a low cross in from the right wing.
The hosts had chances in the first period, Grimsby midfielder Craig Disley twice clearing efforts off the line.
But after the break the Mariners were dominant, Colbeck almost making it two late on, his lob landing on the roof of the net with the keeper off his line.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Grimsby Town joint manager Rob Scott told BBC Radio Humberside:
"I thought the intensity wasn't quite there - the bite in the tackle, the getting close to players, and that can sometimes happen when you've got two games close together.
"I thought that in the second half, they came out and did exactly what we asked them to do, and that was raise the levels, raise the pace of the game and get close to the opposition."
