Shrewsbury Town: Graham Burke expects physical League One

Graham Burke

Graham Burke says he is ready to face the physical demands of League One after joining Shrewsbury Town on loan from Premier League side Aston Villa.

Republic of Ireland Under-21 striker Burke, 19, has moved to Shrewsbury on loan until January after making only two substitute appearances for Villa.

"It's a new experience for me playing against men and more physical players," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"I'll be getting a taste of what actual first-team football is like."

Burke's two substitute appearances for Villa both came in the League Cup, but with Town striker John Marsden set to be out for the next two months, he looks a likely candidate to start against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

And he says that Villa boss Paul Lambert was influential in his move to Shropshire.

"Paul's the one that wanted me to come here," Burke commented.

"He must like the style of football Shrewsbury play, because he says when you go on loan you have to play for somebody who'll suit your style of football."
