Liverpool are set to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for £9m next week.

The Belgium international is expected on Merseyside in the next few days to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the move.

The 24-year-old has played 101 games since joining from Belgian club Sint-Truiden for £2m in June 2010.

He kept 11 clean sheets in 40 appearances last season as the Black Cats narrowly avoided the drop.

Liverpool's current first-choice keeper Pepe Reina, 30, has been to Spanish champions Barcelona, where he started his career.

The Reds have already agreed to sign 32-year-old on a free transfer and for £7m.

Sevilla midfielder Luis Alberto, 20, is close to joining the Reds, while manager Brendan Rodgers is also tracking highly-rated Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori, 20, and 24-year-old Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar Donetsk.
