Roberto Martinez meets Everton chairman Bill Kenwright
Roberto Martinez has met Everton chairman Bill Kenwright to discuss succeeding David Moyes as manager at Goodison Park.
Wigan chairman Dave Whelan allowed Martinez, 39, to speak to other clubs after he requested to leave the Latics.
Kenwright asked his opposite number for permission to approach Spaniard Martinez last Friday and the pair had talks in London on Wednesday.
But Martinez said he did not expect news of his future to emerge this week.
He told BBC Radio 5 live's Ian Dennis that he could make an announcement "maybe Monday".
Martinez guided then-League One Swansea to the Championship in his first managerial role and joined Wigan in June 2009. He was a target for Aston Villa in June 2011 but opted to stay with the Latics. He was also strongly linked with Liverpool last summer.
Moyes left Everton after 11 years to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager.
