Adebayo Akinfenwa released by Northampton Town
Northampton Town have released striker Adebayo Akinfenwa to end his second spell at Sixfields.
The 31-year-old scored 17 times in 51 games this season, but was left on the bench for
he was a fans' favourite at Northampton.
The 16-stone forward, who has 74 goals from 188 games across his two Cobblers spells, posted on Twitter: "I did not choose to leave Northampton."
He added: "But I whole heartily wish Northampton all the very best in the future.
"I want to thank the staff players and especially the fans for making my time at NTFC memorable, it was special. God bless you all."
John Johnson, Louis Moult, Jake Robinson, Lewis Wilson, Paul Turnbull and Seth Nana Twumasi have also been released.
Defender Kelvin Langmead, who also did not start at Wembley, has been handed a new two-year deal.
The 28-year-old played 47 times for Aidy Boothroyd's side this season.
Lee Collins, Luke Guttridge, Ben Tozer, Ben Harding and Roy O'Donovan have been offered new deals, as has Nathan Cameron, who has been released by Coventry City following his loan spell at Sixfields this season.
