Steve Collis has signed a new one-year contract at Rochdale and will new responsibilities as goalkeeping coach.

Left-back Michael Rose, 30, has also agreed to extend his stay at Spotland by a further two years.

They were by manager Keith Hill at the end of the season.

Rose played 14 times for Dale during the 2012-13 campaign, which 32-year-old Collis is yet to make a first-team appearance for the League Two club.

Both players arrived shortly after Hill's return as Rochdale manager in January.

Hill told the club website: "Michael is a quality player. He's an exceptional talent and a creator.

"It has been my desire since he came to the club to extend his deal, so I'm delighted he's agreed to a two-year-deal."

He added: "It was made plainly obvious to me when we recruited Steve that he had a hankering for going into the coaching side of the game, as well as being a more than capable number two.

"We had discussions about that and he's 100% on-plan with respect to my needs and the needs of the game.

"He will be an extremely valuable member of staff, who will take care of all the goalkeepers at the club - Josh and the club's youth team goalkeepers - as well as keeping his hand in as a number two."
