Forest Green's Blue Square Bet Premier play-off hopes came to an end as they were defeated at home by Hereford.
Ryan Bowman came closest to an opener for the Bulls when he rattled the crossbar with a stinging drive.
But Rod McDonald then struck the only goal of the game on 56 minutes, volleying in from a Sam Clucas corner.
Magno Vieira came closest to an equaliser in the closing stages but saw his effort well saved by Hereford keeper James Bittner.

Forest Green Rovers manager Dave Hockaday told BBC Gloucestershire:
"It goes beyond frustrating because I can't say we haven't played well or passed it around well.
"But we've got to win games. We should have easily scored three goals.
"We just can't get the ball in the net. Frustrating is a nice word for it but for us to play like that and not have the game won is just wrong.
"We have to take a look at ourselves."
