Forest Green moved to within two points of the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off spots with victory at Ebbsfleet.
The home side, now on a run of one win in their last eight, remain in dire trouble, 11 points from safety.
James Norwood put Forest Green in front from the edge of the area for his 15th of the season.
Nathan Elder missed Ebbsfleet's best chance with his head, before debutant Reece Connolly, on loan from Farnborough, prodded in Rovers' second.

Forest Green Rovers Manager Dave Hockaday told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:
"That is a great win. We dominated proceedings on a really difficult surface. We actually showed today that we can grind, it wasn't pretty free-flowing football but all the chances were ours.
"We've rolled our sleeves up and put in a shift, their keeper made three or four great saves, while Sam (Russell) has had nothing to do.
"This is a tough place for us to come and three great points, but it was a really solid performance where we've dominated the proceedings and dominated chances.
"That's three brilliant points that'll cheese a lot of people off."
