Lambert for England, Lallana for England, Shaw for England, Clyne for England, JayRod for England, Cork for England.Hopefully they will all get caps eventually! They've got the talent, just need RoyO'Hodgson to stop picking unite youth, carrick, cleverly (whoot) and Wellbeck are all not good enough. Absolute Joke. Lampard should be playing instead of gerrard as well! And arsenal have ruined Ox :(
23.locohero 30th March 2013 - 18:46 Chelsea's ridiculous number of fixtures this season can't be helping. They've got brilliant players, but fatigue is a factor. As is having Rafa as their manager.++Big clubs have to do this every season...
352 Ignored? He did play for Eng and he was watched frequently. The problem was that as Shearer once said "When Matt played, my only job was to run for him" (or something like that). You effectively reduce the team to ten men. Was Le Tiss good enough for that at Int level? Not a chance.Lambert is simply Steve Bull in red. Good player at his level, not an international class player.
Torres £50m v Lambert £1m
I think Saints should be punished for fielding a weakened team against Chelsea. No skipper Lallana, no marquee signing Ramirez, taking off the first choice keeper at half time...it's this kind of thing that brings the game into disrepute...
I think a lot of people are missing the point with Lambert. His game isn't about running at defenders with pace. Not many international strikers do that these days anyway. His game is all about position and running off the ball. He has made the best Prem defenders look average this year. He pulls them all over the place without having real pace.
@348Mr Toad, temporary decline, nothing more than a hiccup... I'll have Badger come round and put you into line if you don't curb your over enthusiasm!Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Le Tissier was even less mobile than Lambert; but he would score goals for fun. What is wrong with his type of footballer as long as he puts the ball in the net. The reason the big clubs never called for Le Tiss was that they suggested their so called big stars wouldn't put up with doing all the ground work whilst he hung around and poked the ball in the net. Who cares how it happens...just score.
@349 cienfuegosI am sorry but you will never convince a true Saints fan that our players aren't ignored because we are an unfashionable club. Le Saux's comment would have also applied to one of Englands most talented ever goal scorer Matt LeTissier. He was ignored because of exactly that reason. What have the England team ever done since 1966! Absolutely nothing. It's a closed shop, we know it!
@350 Les BowringYou are right. I honestly believed that when Hodgson took over he would buck the trend and scout around having been at Fulham and WBA, both middle of the road, but how wrong I was. Same old agenda, start at the top and go from there. As for the plastic nonsense, it's bragging rights, sabre rattling, one upmanship. There must be a tick box to decide whose plastic or for real.
