FA Cup boosted by 33-year best average attendance figures

This season's FA Cup fifth round had the best average attendance for over 30 years.

Monday's Old Trafford crowd of 75,213 that watched saw Manchester United defeat Reading boosted the average figure to 32,566 for the round.

Only 1980 can boast a better total than this season with an average of 36,403.

The fifth-round proper concludes on Wednesday 27 February when Middlesbrough host Chelsea at the Riverside Stadium.

Everton will play Oldham Athletic in their fifth-round replay at Goodison Park on Tuesday 26 February.

More than 60,000 fans saw Blackburn shock Arsenal at Emirates Stadium while a near-capacity crowd of 46,849 watched Manchester City cruise to a 4-0 win against Leeds United.
