Your spot on CitizenJ the Swans beating Liverpool ( again ) was a shock but of course not in Swansea - just in Liverpool. Its time to change the record.
Swansea beating Chelsea shouldn't be a shock, last time I checked, Swansea were a fully professional premier league team. Now Swansea beating Liverpool, that was a shock,
DECLINE OF CHELSEA. 8 trophie in total for them this year, community shield, EPL UCL super cup, club world cup, fa cup, league cup and the europa league. How may will they win, at this rate maybe the europa league.
I am not booking my ticket to wembley just yet.We know that despite playing well, we were gifted two great chances, but we also know that chelsea on a good day, especially with BA are more than capable of pulling 2 back by half time. Its going to be a really tense game, in many ways the GD makes it harder, because now every1 expects us to win vs Chelsea, & our secret is our underdog status.
@476I just felt he could have played his hand a little faster. There was nothing wrong with putting the fresher combination of Ba and Lampard on for 45 mins rather than 15 to score 2 goals!Sure thing, there were 45 mins before that to fill the onion bag.But what am I saying, then Swansea wouldn't be grabbing too many headlines, I'm happy as how it turned out anyway so xD
I think some of the Chelsea players do not play with 100% commitment to Chelsea and are there just for the $$$. Which is a shame as some of the players on loan would give their hind teeth to play (Josh Mac). Its about time Chelsea started to bring through there younger talent.
@478 - My starting 11 also included Ba... but I had him starting instead of Oscar! So effectively BA 'behind' FT and Hazard and Mata either side of Ba. So it would have been the same side as the one that started with Lampard (Captain), instead of Ramires alongside Luiz.@479 - It's 10 mins for all of us and this 400 character limit is doing my nut in as well!Sort it Beeb! lol
Are the moderators prejudice ??????????????And why didn't Chelsea buy Modric when they had the chance and what is Essien doing on loan at RM when Chelsea need him.
Cont. from 477.Lampard was the key last night. Luiz needed that stabilising influence over his game, as last night both him and Ramires looked poor as a defensive midfield pairing as the game progressed; unorganised and ill-disciplined.Even if RB wanted to keep Lampard's legs for the Stoke game, he should have come on 15mins earlier, as it was totally obvious what was needed? Sign him up...
Look at it this way, Chelsea have not won at Swansea in the last couple of visits, so the 2nd leg will be very interesting to watch. If Chelsea do not get a couple of early goals then it'll be the swans that go to Wembley. And modertor why do I have to wait 10mins when everyone else only waits 5mins???????
Torres should have been on the bench last night, Chelsea should have started with Ba. That decision was down to Benitez....
Had Lampard started the game (he was in my starting 11 alongside Luiz before the start! lol) then I'm not sure that FT would have made the most of those little dinked balls OTT anyway, as his control is generally quite bad. FT still works very hard but even I'm starting to struggle to see his GPG improving significantly. At the very latest Lampard should have been on the park by the 55-60th min.
Not really sure why people are blaming Benitez. Chelsea had more than enough chances to win the game and just didn't take them. That is down to the players, not the manager.People also need to realise that Chelsea still have 3 competitions that they can win. That means that players will have to be rotated and both Torres and Ba have played a lot of football already this season!
Cont. from 473.Lampards contribution goes beyond what he can do as a footballer and he serves as an impetus to the mentality of all of his team mates. There are expectations above and beyond what you are capable of technically and the tempo he created was obvious to see. Ba came on and profited from that injection of urgency. Swansea had a different dimension to defend against (Lampard).TBC
Torres should have been subbed at 60' or even earlier, it was obvious he was totally ineffective yet again since the 1st quarter. Lampard and Ba should have started the 2nd, a manager of Benitez's standards, quite shocking and a little lazy from him tbh.Other than that, can't take much away from Swansea, they did their job quite perfectly.
Cont. from 472As the 2nd half progressed FT started to take up wide positions at one stage and saw a bit more of the ball (more space) and had his best phase. Lampard came on and gave us a different dimension. As ever, he collects the ball in central areas within the opponents half and pops 20-30yd balls over the top of defences, to areas between the penalty spot and the 6yd box. Danger zone...
Cont. from 470;When the Swans had posession or, when we built from the back, that formation expanded (it was a fluid 4-4-2). On the occasions we had the opportunity to make quick breaks on the flanks (90mins) FT was always too slow mentally to move into the danger zone (6-9yds out), if those crosses would have found their mark in behind, he wouldn't have been in a position to capitalise. TBC
467. Were you at the match last night? I was and there was a decent atmosphere, singing from both sets of fans. I'm disappointed with Villa though, "7-1 m'lord" has a better ring to it than "8-0 m'lord", so thanks for ruining the song.
