FA Cup: Bradford City appeal against expulsion from competition

Curtis Good

Bradford City are to appeal against their expulsion from the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player.

The Bantams fielded in last Friday's in the second round without registering him in time.

If they are unsuccessful, their replay on 18 December will be cancelled, with the Bees visiting Bury or Southend in round three.

Good, 19, joined Bradford in November and made his debut in the Cup tie.

A club statement read: "Bradford City Football Club can confirm that they will be appealing the FA's decision to expel the club from this season's FA Cup.

"This process will take place throughout the forthcoming week.

"The club will report any further information to its supporters when applicable.

"The club has no further comment to make on this matter at this present time given that is an ongoing issue."

Bury and Droylsden were kicked out of the Cup, in 2006 and 2008 respectively, for fielding ineligible players, with both clubs losing their appeals.
