St Paul's and Jersey Wanderers stay top of Premiership


St Paul's and Jersey Wanderers are three points clear at the top of the island's Premiership after getting comfortable wins.

J-P Martyn, Craig Leitch and Craig Russell put the Charity Cup winners in front as they beat Rozel Rovers 3-1, Steve McGuiness scored for Rovers.

Matt Rondel netted twice for Wanderers in their 4-0 win over St Peter.

In the Jeremie Cup, Jersey Scottish got revenge for their Upton loss to North with a 3-2 win.

Ross Crick scored a hat-trick for the Scots against the Guernsey champions, while Grouville came away from the Track with a 4-2 extra-time win over Guernsey side Belgrave Wanderers.

The scores were level at 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes but goals from John Geary, Dan Tostevin, Mick McParland and Scott Walsh sealed the win for the Jersey side, who ended up playing against nine men after Bels had two sent off.

There were no upsets in the first round of the Le Riche Cup as two goals from Rupert Murray helped Premiership St Ouen beat Championship club St Martin 4-1.
