Dartford manager Tony Burman has defended selecting Jacob Erskine, despite the striker scoring just one league goal this season.
"He's starting to grow in confidence," Burman told BBC Radio Kent.
"Most teams in this league have a big target man and Jacob is that sort of player. I'm confident that goals will be scored."
Dartford are the fifth top scorers in the Blue Square Bet Premier with 19 goals in nine games.
The arrival of Harry Crawford from Southend United has stiffened competition up front at Princes Park.
The 20-year-old leads the scoring charts with five goals in nine appearances and fellow front man Danny Harris has bagged two in four starts.
Erskine's solitary strike came in Dartford's 5-1 win over Afreton Town but Burman has backed the former Gillingham forward to come good.
"He's not an out and out scorer but that will happen as long as he keeps working hard, keeps concentrating and doesn't think he's arrived," Burman added.
