German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen have completed the signing of Nigeria striker Joseph Akpala from Belgian side Club Brugge

The 26-year-old joins on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Akpala said he is hoping to make the best of the chance to play in a big league.

"I have the chance and platform to take my career to the next level," he told BBC Sport.

"I want to give my best to this club and the fans.

"It's a big step up for me now and it's a bigger league. I'm prepared to give my all."

"I thank Club Brugge fans, fellow players and management for their support during my time there."

He scored 22 goals in 48 matches in all competitions for the Belgian side last season.
