Motherwell manager Stuart McCall says win is a Europa League boost
Motherwell manager Stuart McCall said that victory over Kilmarnock has given his side a lift for the Europa League.
'Well face Spanish side Levante in the Europa League play-off round on Thursday at Fir Park.
And the Lanarkshire club's boss thinks that the win, courtesy of two Jamie Murphy goals was ideal preparation.
"You feel tired when you lose but, even though they've put a lot in today, you don't feel that when you wake up in the morning and see the result," he said.
"Yeah, it's a big lift. We came here last time round and we never turned up really and got beat 2-0.
"And we've got plenty of rest now before Thursday so there's no excuses."
McCall also revealed he had a more personal reason for being happy with his side's win.
"I've never had a victory against Kilmarnock as manager, so I'll maybe have a glass of shandy tonight," he said.
"I'm delighted with the victory and the manner in which we gained it.
"We came and changed the system a little bit and we felt we could get at them. We were always a threat on the break second half when they came on strong.
"We maybe should have killed the game off in the last 15 or 20 minutes."
