Oldham 0-1 Stevenage

A Lucas Akins penalty helped Stevenage continue their strong start to the season while Oldham remain winless.

Home keeper Alex Cisak tripped Boro's Marcus Haber in the area after defender James Tarkowski sold him short with a back header leaving Atkins to convert from 12 yards.

The hosts never looked like getting back into it and visiting keeper Chris Day had a quiet afternoon.

Oldham have now lost three of their four games this season.

Smith praises hard-working Haber

Stevenage manager Gary Smith told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"When you look at the fact that we've played away the last two games against two very competitive sides, I think we can all be pretty pleased with the way things are unfolding.

"Nobody is going to get too excited but there are some really good signs.

"The opening exchanges, I thought we controlled pretty well with some good possession and nice choices, mixed in with the ever-present competitiveness.

"We huffed and puffed a little bit when we got into advanced areas, but the goal helped enormously and in the second half, there were two or three moments when we might have extended it."
