Braintree Town 1-2 Newport
Newport County recovered from a goal down to maintain their perfect start to the Blue Square Bet Premier season.
Brad Quinton gave Braintree the lead shortly after the break when he stooped low to head home from a corner.
Max Porter started the County comeback by finding the top left-hand corner with a sublime strike.
Defender Ismail Yakubu scored the late winner with a calm side-foot finish after being left unmarked in the six-yard box.
Newport's fourth successive victory represents the club's best start to a season since 2005.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Newport County manager Justin Edinburgh told BBC Radio Wales:
"It was hard-fought. It wasn't pretty at times but I've learned a bit more about this group of players today.
"I'm immensely proud of them, as I have been since we reported back for pre-season.
"It shows we have a good togetherness, quality and spirit. I've been in some good teams and that can take you a long way.
