Igesund impressed by South Africa's overseas players

South Africa coach Gordon Igesund has been impressed by the recent performances of Bafana Bafana players who are based overseas.

England-based midfielders Kagisho Dikgacoi of Championship side Crystal Palace and League One club Oldham's Dean Furnham have caught the eye.

Dikgacoi headed the winner for Palace against Exeter City in Tuesday's League Cup first-round match.

Bongani Khumalo and Kamohelo Mokotjo have also impressed Igesund.

Khumalo recently moved to Greek side PAOK and Mokotjo plays for Dutch giants Feyenoord.

The Bafana Bafana coach said: "Not everyone being observed will automatically get called to the national team. This is a normal exercise in the name of fairness that I assess as many players as possible.

"Having said that, I must admit that I am generally happy with what I have seen from most of these players. It gives me a fantastic headache because I will have a bigger pool on which to choose from."

Igesund said not only was he happy with the progress of the overseas-based players but was also encouraged by the form of many of the players in the domestic league.
