Championship side Leicester City strolled to a straightforward victory over League Two outfit Torquay United.

Lloyd Dyer ran beyond his marker, controlled Wes Morgan's long ball and picked his spot to give the visitors the lead against the run of play.

And they soon took complete control of the tie when Ben Marshall whipped a 25-yard free kick into the top corner.

Matty James rounded the goalkeeper to slot home for 3-0, before fellow debutant Jamie Vardy headed a fourth.

"It was a very good performance. They are always difficult games to negotiate because you are expected to win but that is easier said than done.

"It was a thoroughly professional performance. We had a host of chances. It was good to keep a clean sheet and we had good discipline at the back.

"With a very important game on Saturday it was good to get this out of the way in 90 minutes.

"You have to get all aspects of your game right and we played pretty well throughout and always looked a threat. We have an awful lot of attacking options this year."
