Cambridge 2-1 Lincoln City

Adriano Moke's strike ensured Cambridge United victory over Lincoln in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

The hosts got off to the perfect start when Tom Elliott headed home Robbie Willmott's pin-point delivery.

However, the Imps equalised through Andrew Boyce when he met Adam Smith's corner with a powerful downward header.

Boyce almost put Lincoln ahead but his effort was saved by Jonathan Hedge, before Moke drilled home into the top corner to hand the hosts three points.

We sat off too much - George

"We got the dream start and we didn't build on it.

"It's a failing at the moment that we become too much of a team that doesn't get on the front foot - when we do that, I think we look half decent.

"It's frustrating, the first half petered out too easily and they were the dominant team and deserved their goal.

"In the second half, the crowd got behind us at the first inkling of any good play.

"That really got the place rocking and the players responded. The [winning] goal was coming I felt, but it was a long time coming because a lot of the performance wasn't what we want it to be."

Lincoln City manager David Holdsworth told BBC Radio Lincolnshire:

Holdsworth hails Imps despite defeat

"I thought we dominated the game in the second half.

"We've created a number of chances but there was some very good defending from Cambridge and to lose in that manner, when they capitalised on half a mistake, I cannot believe that we're coming away with nothing.

"I felt the players worked extremely hard tonight. We're coming together as a new side and I'm pleased with some aspects but a basic error has cost us.

"But I'm not despondent because everybody in the stadium knows that we really deserved something tonight."
