Gateshead 0-0 Luton

Blue Square Bet Premier

Luton's quest for a Blue Square Bet Premier play-off place will go down to the final day after a draw at Gateshead.

The Hatters knew they could clinch a top-seven spot with victory.

But it could have been even worse had James Marwood's shot from six yards not hit a post in the final minute.

Luton keeper Mark Tyler produced a fine save to deny Micky Cummins from close range before the late let-off earned them a point.

Luton must now travel to champions Fleetwood on Saturday while nearest challengers Kidderminster host Mansfield, who have already booked a play-off berth.

Luton mustn't change style - Buckle

Luton Town manager Paul Buckle told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"We don't have to change our style, our mood, our tempo - we just have to keep playing with belief and organisation, and if we do that we'll be in there.

"To take the points we've taken (recently) has been a fantastic return. It was a fine line when I came in, to get the players to put the hours in at this stage of the season, you worry their legs are going to go, but we had nothing to lose.

"We've made an incredible effort to get in to the play-off positions, now we must stay in there.

"Gateshead is our next opportunity to make our fans proud and that's what we'll be setting out to do."
