Glentoran's David Howland will miss the rest of the season after sustaining eye socket, cheek and jaw fractures in Saturday's defeat by Crusaders.
Howland suffered the injury after an accident clash with his team-mate Calum Birney at the Oval.
The Glentoran player also lost two teeth as a result of the incident.
A statement from Glentoran said that "everyone at the club are saddened by this unfortunate injury and wish David a speedy recovery".
Howland was only returning after a spell out because of injury and had played 16 minutes after coming on as a half-time substitute.
