Barnet 0-1 Torquay United

Danny Stevens' second-half goal helped Torquay keep up the pressure on the League Two leaders by beating Barnet.

Sam Deering put the ball well wide for the Bees, with only home keeper Robert Olejnik to beat, early on.

Olejnik then brought down Izale McLeod in the area, but the striker's penalty struck the outside of the post and bounced away.

Stevens grabbed the only goal against the run of play on 49 minutes with a well-taken chip over Dean Brill.

Torquay remain in second place, one point behind Swindon, but having played three games more.

A spirited Barnet are perilously close to relegation, sitting in 20th place and just three points ahead of Macclesfield.

Barnet now head into April without a home win in the last two months as manager Lawrie Sanchez was left to rue McLeod's penalty miss.

The Bees made a nightmare start to the second half when defender Sead Hajrovic miscued a clearance and the ball rebounded off his head into the path of Stevens, who sumptuously chipped over Brill.

Barnet's best chance to equalise came on 68 minutes when an inswinging free-kick by midfielder Mark Byrne was headed away.
