Bird broke Cheltenham's Football League appearance record last season

Long-serving Cheltenham Town midfielder David Bird has left the League Two club by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old has made 329 appearances for the Robins since his debut in August 2003, although he had a loan spell at Kidderminster this term.

This season, he played just once for Cheltenham and four times for Harriers.

"It's a sad day but you know when your time is up. I still hope to have a testimonial here at the end of the season," he told the club websiteexternal-link.

"I haven't got anything sorted just yet but obviously I'd like to stay in League football.

"I have had a good 10 years with the club and we've been through a lot but I hope people have seen that I have put a lot into the club and appreciate it."
