Oxford's Adam Chapman training with Mansfield

Oxford United midfielder Adam Chapman has joined Mansfield Town on trial with a view to a loan move.

Chapman is training with the Stags and will get the chance to impress during two behind-closed-doors matches.

Boss Paul Cox told Mansfield's website: "We have him for a couple of friendlies and will then make a decision."

The 22-year-old has only played one game for the U's since returning to the club in August after being convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.

Chapman, who can also play in defence, was a regular in Oxford's Blue Square Premier promotion season and was man of the match in the play-off final win over York in May 2010.

However, he was jailed the following month and released in September 2011.

He suffered a broken foot in a behind-closed-doors match on his return and his only first-team action since their Wembley victory was as an 89th-minute substitute in the goalless draw with Morecambe last month.
