Torquay United manager Martin Ling says he does not expect to bring in a player during the January transfer window.
Ling feels it is more likely he will bolster his squad once the loan market re-opens at the beginning of February.
The Gulls are looking for another attacking player after Billy Bodin's loan spell at Plainmoor ended.
"I personally feel the player will come out of the loan market in February, we aren't going to go out and buy a player," he told BBC Radio Devon.
Ling says he hopes to take advantage of players who have been overlooked at clubs and are hungry to prove themselves.
"What people have got to remember is all these people who are changing their squads around, there's always going to be a nucleus of people who are pushed down the pecking order.
"If they sign players, then players at the bottom end of their squads will become available.
"There's a new market place that opens up in the first week of February because of the people who've brought new players in in January, and I think that's the market we'll be signing from," Ling said.
