St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas has confirmed Rangers' interest in signing the Perth club's striker Francisco Sandaza on a pre-contract agreement.
Sandaza's deal at McDiarmid Park runs out in the summer and he is free to talk to other clubs.
"Rangers want him to sign a pre-contract," Lomas said after St Johnstone's Scottish Cup win against Brechin City.
"If Rangers want him, come and speak to me and make an offer."
Former Dundee United player Sandaza has scored 13 goals so far this season, including the winner against Brechin, but has .
Lomas told BBC Scotland: "If I was his agent I'd be saying, 'why gamble till the end of the year on your fitness?'
"If you're going to do that, why not score another 15 goals and have a host of clubs looking at you?
"Until we get an offer in, nothing can happen; it's all speculation. Hopefully Fran will be lining up against Rangers [next week], not playing for them.
"We'd like to bring in one or two to try and freshen it up a little bit."
Following the win against Second Division Brechin, Lomas reflected: "We're in the hat and we're hopeful that we get a home draw again."
