Macclesfield 1-2 Torquay

Torquay extended their unbeaten run to four games following victory away at Macclesfield.

The Gulls took the lead early in the second half as Ian Morris headed home from close range.

Colin Daniels' header then rebounded of the post for the Silkmen, but they fell further behind through a superbly taken volley from Mark Ellis.

The hosts grabbed a late goal through Shaun Brisley, but it proved to be little more than a consolation.

The Gulls move up to seventh in the table, only outside of the play-off zone on goal difference.

Macclesfield Town manager Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester:

"It was a patchy really, we had some good spells and we had some poor spells.

"The two things that disappointed me are the goals from set pieces, two corners and two goals again.

"He's [Ben Mills] a strong boy, got decent movement and had a couple of decent chances today and could of got off the mark."

Torquay United manager Martin Ling tells BBC Radio Devon:

"It was a thoroughly professional performance from us. Once the game was spread out, we were always likely to pick them off.

"Defensively we were solid, although Macclesfield's goal was good."
