Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback has signed a two-year contract extension.

The 22-year-old, who has played 20 games for Sunderland this season and scored his first goal on Boxing Day, is now tied to the club until June 2014.

Colback had a season-long loan at Ipswich for the 2009-10 season, playing 41 games and scoring five goals as he was voted players' player of the year.

He also spent the early part of last season at Portman Road before returning to Wearside in January 2011.

Colback made his Sunderland debut in the final game of the 2009-10 season and established himself as a regular member of the Black Cats' midfield towards the end of last season.
