Alfreton Town 2-5 Grimsby

Two goals from Liam Hearn helped Grimsby to a thrilling win at Alfreton.

Hearn's low shot put the Mariners ahead before Michael Coulson doubled their lead when he headed in Hearn's cross.

Nathan Arnold blasted a goal back but Hearn raced on to Andi Thanoj's pass for his second and Scott Garner tapped in Anthony Elding's cross for 4-1.

Alfreton's Matt Wilson headed home Jake Moult's pass but Robert Duffy powered in a fifth to extend Grimsby's unbeaten league run to nine matches.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Grimsby Town joint-manager Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:

Hurst hails 'outstanding' Hearn

"Coming to Alfreton, they've been in pretty good form but if you look at the league position it doesn't tell the story of where they are.

"The conditions were difficult and in the second half it was difficult for us to get out at times so all in all I'm really pleased with the players.

"At times we ask a lot of him (Liam Hearn) but today he was outstanding."
