Histon defender Ollie Cleaver has decided, at the age of 19, that he no longer wants to be a footballer.

Boss David Livermore told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire the former Forest Green right-back will take unpaid leave so he can consider his options fully.

He said: "It was a bit of a surprise. Ollie came to me a few weeks back. He didn't feel football was for him.

"It's a brave decision he's made. It's great honesty from the lad. I think he needs to be commended for that."

Cleaver has made seven first-team appearances for the Blue Square Bet North side this season .

"We've left it open for him to come back," added Livermore. "If he still decides football is not for him we'll fully honour his decision.

"He assured me it wasn't a decision he took lightly. I have asked him to have a little think and if he feels the same I will respect his decision.

"Anyone that doesn't want to be at the football club is welcome to leave."
