Norwich City's Chris Martin in Crystal Palace loan

Crystal Palace have completed a deal to sign Norwich City striker Chris Martin on loan until 2 January.

The 23-year-old started three of City's first four Premier League games, but has not featured since the defeat by Manchester United in early October.

He will be available to Palace manager Dougie Freedman until the visit of Leicester in the new year.

"Chris needs to get some games," Canaries boss Paul Lambert told the club website.external-link

"And that's why I decided it was the right thing to send him out on loan.

"Palace have made a good start under Dougie Freedman this season, and if he does play it will be at a good competitive level, which is important."

Martin, who has not scored in his four appearances this season, netted four Championship goals last term as Norwich finished runners-up behind QPR.

The previous campaign was the Norfolk-born forward's most fruitful to date. He notched 17 times in the Canaries' League One title-winning season.

In January 2010 he was handed a new three-and-a-half-year deal, which will expire in the summer of 2013.
