Tottenham defender Michael Dawson has undergone surgery on his troublesome right Achilles tendon.
The 27-year-old, who joined Spurs from Nottingham Forest in 2005, has not played since suffering the injury against Manchester City on 28 August.
Tottenham medics said the England international will be assessed in early December when a date for his return to full training would be determined.
Spurs have hit form recently, with seven wins in their last eight games.
At one stage last month Spurs were without skipper Ledley King, William Gallas and Vedran Corluka in addition to Dawson and had to employ young midfielder Jake Livermore at the heart of defence for the Europa League victory over Rubin Kazan at White Hart Lane.
King, who made only nine appearances last season, has given the White Hart Lane hierarchy a considerable boost by playing in seven matches already this term.
