Bournemouth have completed the signing of Charlton defender Simon Francis.
Francis, who almost joined the Cherries in July, will arrive on loan initially, before signing permanently in January.
The 26-year-old began his career at Bradford and had spells at Sheffield United, Grimsby, Tranmere and Southend before joining Charlton in July 2010.
"We were close to getting him in the summer. He is a good player with a lot of quality," Cherries boss Lee Bradbury told BBC Radio Solent.
"I played with Simon about four or five years ago when I won this league at Southend.
"He is a big lad but very mobile and has a great delivery and is a versatile player."
