Lincoln City have signed former Sheffield Wednesday and Scunthorpe United centre-half Richard Hinds on a contract until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old, who was a free agent after his release by the Owls at the end of last season, is Imps boss David Holdsworth's first permanent signing.
Holdsworth said: "He brings leadership to the team and that is just the sort of player we need at the moment."
Hinds joins new loan signings Conal Platt and Paul Farman at Sincil Bank.
He began his career at Tranmere and after a spell at Hull City, he made more than 100 appearances for Scunthorpe, helping The Iron to the League One title before moving on to Sheffield Wednesday in 2007.
He could make his Imps debut along with goalkeeper Farman and winger Platt in Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier match against Barrow at Sincil Bank.
