Colchester United have been boosted by the news that striker Steven Gillespie's hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared.
The 26-year-old, who has scored twice in 11 appearances this season, was injured in the win over Notts County.
He will miss this weekend's trip to Tranmere Rovers but manager John Ward says the injury is not too serious.
"The scans show there are no severe tears and he shouldn't be out for long," Ward told the club website.
"He felt something against Notts County and we took him off to prevent him causing further damage."
"We've caught it before it developed into something worse and hopefully, we'll see him back in action sooner because of that."
