Hinckley United boss Dean Thomas hailed a magnificent display by his side in the 3-0 FA Cup win over troubled Blue Square Bet Premier side Darlington.
Hinckley are 16th in the Blue Square Bet North table but eased past through in the fourth qualifying round replay.
Sam Belcher scored twice with an Andre Gray effort sandwiched inbetween.
"It was a magnificent performance," Thomas told BBC Radio Leicester. "We deserved it. Our shape was good. We were strong, patient and disciplined."
The Knitters have had a mixed start to the season, having won five and lost eight of their 13 league games so far.
But the display against Darlington left Thomas delighted.
"I said to the players it's all about making history," Thomas added.
"It was a step on from Saturday [1-1 draw at Darlington]. I knew at home we would give it a go and we were excellent.
"We matched them all over the pitch, looked quality at times and hopefully we can take that form into the league.
"It's about making history. We have had a few years where we have been knocked out in the earlier rounds but it's always an incredible achievement to beat teams from higher leagues.
"It's great for the players and a wonderful buzz and great financial reward for the club."
Hinckley will face Tamworth at home in the first round proper on Saturday, 12 November.
