Derby County striker Tomasz Cywka hopes to make the most of his unexpected recall to the first team.
"It's a big shame. But that's how it is in football," the Polish striker told BBC Radio Derby.
"When one player is injured other players step in. Hopefully I can get some games and some goals now."
Polish forward Cwyka came in for some much-publicised and heavy criticism from manager Nigel Clough following a 2-0 defeat against Portsmouth in early February.
And he has struggled to make the breakthrough into the first team since, starting just three league games for the Rams following that incident.
One of those appearances - his only start this season - came in the win over Nottingham Forest in September when he was taken off after just 60 seconds following goalkeeper Frank Fielding's red card.
