Derby County boss Nigel Clough was full of adulation for his side's display in their 1-1 home draw with Barnsley.
Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "We have had the effort this season, we have had the workrate and spirit but what we saw was football on a different level.
"On another day it was a 4-1 or 5-1 game. We put on an absolutely superb performance. At times we tore into them and tore them apart.
"The quality of football and display gives us a great amount of heart."
The Rams are now second in the Championship table and would have gone top with a victory at Pride Park.
But although Clough was upset to miss out on heading the Championship standings, he was cheered by his his team's form.
He added: "I know it will only register as one point in the league table - but in terms of performance and the way we went about it - all throughout the game but especially in the second half - that was as good as it has been in terms of an attacking display for years.
"It wasn't chances by fluke, it was chances against a very good side with a very good away record.
"Nineteen points has been an incredible start from the first nine games."
