Kettering Town will appoint former Stevenage, Gillingham and Barnet boss Mark Stimson as their new manager.
The 43-year-old, who won the FA Trophy with Stevenage in 2007, will be confirmed as the Poppies boss once he finalises the details of his contract.
He also enjoyed non-league success with Grays Athletic, who he led to Conference South and FA Trophy titles.
Stimson told BBC Radio Northampton: "All the players will get the chance to impress me."
He will replace Morell Maison, who resigned on Monday at the Blue Square Bet Premier club.
He said that he was hopeful of bringing in coaches Rod Stringer, formerly with Braintree Town, and Scott Barrett, who was with Stimson at his former clubs.
