No Megson apology after early substitutions

Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson is unrepentant about his decision to make three early substitutions during the club's Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat on penalties to Bradford at Valley Parade.

Megson removed goalkeeper Nicky Weaver after just two minutes, whilst David Prutton and Jose Semedo also left the game before 20 minutes had been played.

Under Trophy rules, participating clubs must begin each game with a minimum of six players who have made the most appearances so far this season. But Megson's substitutions mean Wednesday will avoid a potential fine of up to £5,000 for failing to field their strongest side, as per rule 7.3 of the competition.
