Sheffield Wed 3-2 Scunthorpe

Two goals from Gary Madine and one from Ben Marshall helped Sheffield Wednesday to a controversial win over Scunthorpe.

Madine's bundled effort put the Owls ahead but The Iron were given a penalty before the referee reversed his decision after consulting an assistant.

An angled effort from Marshall made it 2-0 before Bobby Grant pulled one back with a calm finish from inside the box.

Madine scored again when he slotted home and Wednesday held on despite Mark Duffy's late strike from 12 yards.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"I think in terms of the four home games we've played, that's probably the worst we've played.

"We were a yard less in pace than we should have been.

"At two nil we should have controlled the game a lot better than we did."

Scunthorpe United manager Alan Knill told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I'm sick of hearing about being unlucky and there's nothing unlucky about conceding three goals.

"I have to say as well, I was delighted with effort considering we had 120 minutes on Thursday.

"It puts you at a disadvantage for doing well but you have to take it on the chin.

"There were some poor decisions made - I think the referee was awful."
