MK Dons have signed Tottenham right-back Adam Smith on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old played 39 times in League One last term, during a loan spell with Bournemouth, helping them to the play-off semi-finals.
He has five England Under-20 caps, four of which came at this summer's Under-20 World Cup in Colombia.
"We thought he'd go to the Championship, being an England Under-20 international," Dons boss Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio.
"But we could afford to wait for him to come back from the competition.
"He's from a side who play a very similar style to us, very unique and attack minded with full-backs who are like wingers.
"He's a lovely lad and we're looking forward to having him."
Smith has yet to make his senior Spurs debut but has experienced previous loan spells at Wycombe and Torquay.
Robinson has been on the hunt for a right-back since learning Mathias Doumbe's ankle injury is likely to keep him out for at least another three weeks, but he is still eager to bolster his squad.
"I'm still looking for a central defender," Robinson said on Monday.
"The search continues but I've got to find the right one."
