Manager Arsene Wenger believes Samir Nasri may stay at Arsenal despite expectations that the France midfielder will move to Manchester City.
Cesc Fabregas completed his switch to Barcelona on Monday, but Wenger insists Nasri, who has one year left on his contract, is far from certain to follow his former captain out of the Emirates.
"I want Samir to stay, hopefully we can sort the situation out," said Wenger.
"His situation is not linked with Cesc's departure."
Wenger previously suggested that he was prepared to turn down any bids for Nasri and risk the 24-year-old leaving as a free agent next summer when his contract expires.
"As much as we were in a strong position on the contract side with Cesc, the sitiation with Samir is a bit different," Wenger explained. "Hopefully we can sort that out and keep him."
The French international midfielder said: "I heard what the fans were singing about me on Saturday and it is really disrespectful because I'm still an Arsenal player."
