Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale is keen to make sure his players do not get distracted by their forthcoming League Cup tie with Liverpool.

The Grecians have to face Brentford and Preston in League One matches before hosting Liverpool at St James Park on 24 August.

Tisdale told BBC Devon: "I'm very aware that I've got to make sure the team is prepared for the next two league games.

"We can't take our eye off the ball waiting for the Liverpool match."

Tisdale continued: "It's going to be a great night but let's hope we can go into that game with a bit of confidence off the back of the Brentford and the Preston games."

After an opening day draw with Stevenage, Exeter lost their following League One match 2-0 against MK Dons on Saturday.

"It's a fantastic draw and it's a fantastic opportunity to see one of the country's best teams play down here at St James Park and I think we'll do ourselves justice," Tisdale added.

"We'll do ourselves proud and I hope we give our supporters something to cheer on the night."
